Smart Lighting in Parking Garages: Arnhem Central Station
Whereas traditional lighting systems in parking garages can only turn on or off, we introduce Mymesh which can reduce 80% of the energy and CO2 consumption for parking garages by offering dynamic lighting based on movement. Mymesh Professional Wireless Light control empowers lighting systems at parking garages.
At one of the biggest parking garages in the city center of Arnhem we installed such a top-of–the-line Mymesh smart building network with over 2.000 connected luminaires for the 1.050 parking places. The parking places are lightened properly when required, using a fully automatic Mymesh wireless light control system. In close cooperation with Trilux Lighting Solutions and the installer ITN Installatietechniek the project is delivered to the municipality resulting in significant energy savings.
The Trilux LED fixtures have an integrated Mymesh wireless controller and motion sensor. The grouped lamps will respond to presence and absence of motion. To optimise the user experience light measurements are performed by ITN to determine optimum light level conditions for absence (set at 20%) and presence of movement (set at 70%). As a result the energy savings by using the light control system are an additional 50% on top of the savings by using LED. The old fluorescent tube fixtures will be completely recycled.

Smart LED grow lights in Horticulture: Project Vitarom
Imagine a world where growers are able to obtain insights and control over the crops’ lighting so that greenhouses and vertical farming applications can optimise the light recipe and optimise crop growth in the most economically profitable way. With LED grow lights horticulture enters a new era of sustainable solutions for managed crop growth. Optimising the light intensity using the Mymesh wireless light control system, using both daylight and LED grow lights, the system lifetime will be increased, the energy consumption and CO2 emissions reduced. Wireless light control is by far the simplest way to add advanced control functionality to existing and new installations as it minimises the need for new control cabling. With Mymesh there is no limitation in the amount of groups or the number of grow lights in a group or network.
For a large greenhouse (160.000m2) in Grevenbroich, Germany (nearby Dusseldorf) with thousands of tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce produced everyday, Vitarom Neurath was seeking for new lighting technology that would be able to dim their lights in their greenhouse. Approximately 3.200 fixtures delivered by Tungsram, Hungary are commissioned and controlled by the Mymesh wireless light control system.
Each grow light fixture has a Mymesh Micro BLC Industrial wireless controller mounted on top of the fixture to control both LED drivers. The 3.200 fixtures are divided in seven groups so that it is possible to control sections of the greenhouse. Every group can be dimmed to meet the right amount of light for the crops in the greenhouse with a click of a mouse button. How cool is that?
Behind the scenes a special climate control computer communicates with our Mymesh Modbus Server interface module. This Modbus server is installed in range with the Mymesh network and receives commands from the climate computer. This connection makes it possible to use external computers or other devices to connect with the Mymesh network.
Smart LED for the Horticulture industry results in:
- All year round continuous growth cycles.
- Homogeneous light level throughout the greenhouse for a uniform faster growth of the crop.
- Where applicable, light control can facilitate Peak load shaving.
- Reduce energy consumption with LED and daylight harvesting.
- Adapt LED lighting to crop biological rhythm using dimming schedules or fade times.
- Grow different types of crops at different light intensity levels.
- Optimise light intensity level per crop state (seedling/vegetative/flowering).
- Manage power consumption, inrush currents and feed-in premiums (redelivery electricity).
